Fly Like an Eagle

The Eagles are soaring high right now, and it looks like sun shine and blue skies are in the forecast
for the rest of the season. Led by highly underated, top 5 quarterback in the league "D McNabb"
The eagles offense is arguably the top three offenses in the league(Saints, Colts). I know I know "What about Oakland"
Listen understand we are prone to have one or two games where we play down to our opponents
skill level true. But in the same regard McNabb had just gotten back from a rib injury. Tom Brady
or Peyton Manning gets hurt and looks rusty and no one bad mouths them. Just McNabb! Back on point!
Equipped with two versatile backs in Westbrook and McCoy, a proven fullback who can block and take
one to the house!, a top 5 receiving core(Big Play Jackson, Mr. Jackson to you) plus (with a route running, pass catching tight end). And I haven't even mentioned the best second string QB of all time (Mike Vic). That my friends or foe's
is alot to game plan for.
ps
And any one who hates on the D. Just Know We BLITZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New Players... New Defense... Different Result?

I've been following the Eagles for a better part of 20 years. Pretty much ever since i could understand the grid iron sport of champions. I've stuck with them through the highest of highs and lowest of lows. I applauded at the exit of Ricky 'for who? for what' Watters and the introduction of Donovan McNabb as the future of the franchise. I've seen them all come and go and I can safely say that this season I'm more anxious than ever. There are a lot of new young players stepping into big shoes and the question marks looming over their helmuts are as conspicuous as sore thumbs. Every team must eventually go through a rebuilding stage. Some rebound quickly, other remain futile for years to come. The Eagles are a team that seems constantly searching to plug in the missing piece and I'm hoping with fingers cross what we've assembled the team that will final bring that trophy to the City of brotherly love.

Frustrating Trade Day

The NFL isn't famous for its big moves on trade deadline day so it is hard to expect too much from the Eagles but for some reason this year I did. By some miracle we are still in it, with a win on Sunday, losses by every other NFC East team and some key injuries the season still remains alive. For that reason I was expecting, I guess it was really more hoping that the Eagles would step up and make a move that could perhaps be that missing piece to really help us push over the top. The Eagles aren't a bad team they just aren't a very good team either, they seem to be missing something and I think if nothing else adding someone like a Tony Gonzalez at TE may have shown some effort on the part of managment to shake things up a bit and put some pieces in there that could make a difference. The play of our TE has been almost none existent this year and while they aren't bad, they aren't particularly great either. This team needed a little injection and whether or not there were truly any impact players available in the market can be debated but I think some changes could have had a positive impact on this team that goes beyond just what one particular player may do on the field. I guess now it is just talk though because nothing is going to change and we are going to have to hope that this team can turn it around and find a way to win on a consistent basis this year and prove all the doubters who think this team is flat with no enthusiasm to win wrong.

Eagles Better Step Up

It's a good thing the Phillies are playing into Oct because the start of the Eagles season has been hard to get excited about. After what looked like a promising start we are now below 500 for the season and appear to be going in reverse. I am happy to hear that McNabb called a players only meeting as I think he really needs to step up as the veteren and leader of this team. He has been in the league for 10 years now and really hasn't been the type of leader this team needs. Perhaps this slow start finally has him realizing the importance of his role on this team. He has really shown some signs of having a great season but I think to really take things to the next level he needs to help the rest of the team step up and play better. There is some talent on this team but unless they all start playing up to if not beyond their potential this season is going to be over before it ever really gets started. What makes things even more difficult is just how well the rest of the NFC East is playing. We need to really make the case on the field for being one of the best teams in the division, it is time for the entire team, coaching staff down to the kid who holds the footballs on the side line to do everything they do at the very highest level they can possibly do them. I want the Eagles to come out with a sense of urgency and most importantly maintain that sense of urgency throughout the rest of the season.

Vindication!!!!!!!!!

The Eagles are for real. They did it without Westbrook against one of the stingiest defenses in the leage and one that historically has given us problems.

D-line, awesome job!! We knew Pittsburgh would have to run given Big Ben's shoulder problems, but they still kept Ol' Ben in check, even with whatever they gave him to get over his separated shoulder (or sprained, whoever you believe). What was it? 6 sacks and a pair of interceptions? The best part was shutting down their run game. Weapon X, made his presence known.

On the offensive side D-Mac fought through some pain and continued to play well. You also can't understate Buckhalter's stepping up and getting the job done. B-West, I hope he'll be back soon. You have to love a guy who always is looking out for his team before himself. He saved us from being down 2 players on that one play. I'm sure Buck appreciated his foresight the rest of the game.

The NFC East is the toughest Division in the league. All teams have winning records and we face the Bears turn over happy D next week.

Keep the faith...this is a GREAT TEAM!!!!

Tough Loss

It is never good to loose to Dallas but I guess if we are going to loose a Monday Night game to Dallas having it be in Sept and scoring 37 points is not a bad way to do it. We made some mistakes late and that really hurt us but I think we sent a message to the league that we are back. McNabb looks healthy, Westbrook he continues to prove he is one of the elite players in the league, Jackson has back to back 100 yard games what a pleasant surprise. The defense didn't make many stops which hurt us and we did make some mistakes late in the game which is never good but all in all we were pretty solid.
We have a big test next week against Pittsburgh but I don't think they will be happy to be playing the Eagles and we need to come out tough against a good Steelers team. Should be another good test for this team early that if we can prevail we should be on a good path. It looks like it is going to be either the Eagles or the Cowboys in the Super Bowl with the NFC perhaps getting 2 Super Bowls in a row. GO EAGLES!!!!!!!!!!!

Big Game in Big D

The Eagles have a big test this weekend in Dallas. I actually think these two teams match up pretty well after watching the first week of the season. Initially I was not that excited about the Eagles and I know it has only been 1 week but WOW did they look good against the Rams. One thing that makes me excited is yes, I know the Rams suck but in the past the Eagles use to find ways to keep teams like that in the game and not completely dominate. On Sunday when they scored at the end of the first half it said to me they were going for the throat and they understood that was what needed to happen. I actually think Donovan McNabb has matured to the point that he knows what it means and the necessity to really do what ever it takes to dominate another team and go for the throat when you have the opportunity. I think this week will be a much better test of how the season is reallly going to look but I am now much more excited for this season and this game then I thought I would be just a few short weeks ago.

Eagles Dallas

Even though the Eagles blew out a mediocre team and Dallas beat a not so mediocre team, I'm going to have to follow
my heart and call it, 14 - 10 Eagles. I don't think Romo is up for the Eagles defense. He will
be sacked at least 5 times and maybe taken out with a concussion or such. TO will be
silenced by several Eagle interceptions and the Eagles will roll.

I guess I was on the money

As I previously stated, McNabb is healthy (for now) and had a great game, as did the entire team.
I believe I predicted 28 -3 - Eagles. Close enough for me. The defense looked great as did the recieving corp. The offense, as I expected. The running game as well performed above my expectations. Best home opener in their history. So what?

Cowboys are next week.

We'll see!
